Robert Sherman Artisan

Robert has been working with wood for over 30 years, deeply appreciating its texture and smell.  He has loved furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries for its utility and simplicity. Antique wood, with its wonderful possibilities, is the inspiration for the furniture he now creates.

In 2001, Robert began making furniture from recycled antique barnwood, for his country home in Saugerties, New York... then by request for his friends and neighbors, and thus Sherman Barnwood Furniture was born.

Our wood comes from old barns from the Hudson Valley and New York area, some of which dates back to the early 1800's. Each piece is hand picked to ensure quality and beauty.  By using reclaimed wood, we give our customers a piece of history that is environmentally conscious and eco-friendly.
